The fintech blockchain Ripple has been awarded a registration as crypto service provider to the Bank of Ireland.
This Wednesday, the American Ripple announced that its Irish subsidiary had been granted a license to offer digital asset services in the country and, from the end of 2024, throughout the EU following the entry into force of the European MiCA regulation and subject to the need for further additional licenses.
Ripple Markets Ireland Limited has thus joined the list of Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) registered in Ireland. An authorization currently coveted by the Coinbase crypto exchange.
Ireland has positioned itself as a favorable jurisdiction for the virtual asset sector and therefore an ideal place for companies like Ripple to operate, reinforcing our decision to choose Ireland as the primary base for European regulation,” said Eric van Miltenburg, Vice President Strategic Initiatives at Ripple.
We’re honored to be added to the @centralbank_ies list of registered virtual asset service providers – allowing us to provide digital assets services within Ireland. 🇮🇪

For Ripple, the legal framework will bring greater regulatory clarity to the crypto industry in Europe.
Recently, ESMA warned about MiCA, stating that investors would benefit from the full rights and protections afforded to them under the regulations by July 1, 2026 at the latest.
