PlayStation Showcase could possibly be in May – That’s Gaming

We are approaching the time of year when events and showcases follow one another with major announcements, reveals and updates, and from the Xbox Games Showcase and Ubisoft Forward to Summer Game Fest and others, plenty have already been officially announced.

One event we haven’t had any official word on yet, however, is the long-awaited PlayStation Showcase. Earlier this month, journalist Jeff Grubb stated that Sony had an event planned sometime before Summer Game Fest, which is scheduled for June 8, and now Grubb has further narrowed that window.

In a recent episode of his Giant Bomb podcast Game Mess Mornings, Grubb said it is likely that the PlayStation Showcase event will take place in May, although there is a chance it could be delayed until “very, very early June.”

“I would probably safely say May at this point, but generally I keep saying before Summer Game Fest, because that’s just the safest way to do it,” Grubb said. “But yes, May, maybe very, very early June; that seems like the right time to get that PlayStation Showcase.”

What the event will include remains to be seen, but Grubb has previously claimed it will be a “massive” showcase that will “set up the second phase of the PS5.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 appears to be coming out in September, while Naughty Dog has said that it plans to share more details about its standalone multiplayer game The Last of Us this year, so it is very likely that those two, at least, will be part of the PlayStation Showcase lineup.
