Yogscast Games and It’s happening are excited to share the news that they have reached a brand new milestone as the co-op cooking-roguelike, PlateUp!, has sold an astounding 1.5 million copies on Steam – a week before it launches on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Since the debut of It’s happening’s first title on PC in 2022, the game has grown into an incredibly popular game, with overwhelmingly positive feedback on Steam, which it has proudly maintained since launch. These successes have seen It’s happening expand to a team of two, and they are excited to celebrate such a lofty milestone.
PlateUp! began as a passion project during Covid-19, inspired by an array of co-op titles played by the original solo developer, Alastair Janse van Rensburg, during the lockdown. Its commercial success since then has exceeded all expectations, with Alastair completely stunned upon receiving his first 1 million in royalties just one month after the game’s launch.
“I am absolutely astounded that what started as a love project to enjoy with my friends has grown into such a huge global hit,” said Alastair Janse van Rensburg, creator of PlateUp! “It was truly humbling to see such a consistently overwhelmingly positive response from PC players since launch. I can’t wait to welcome console players into the PlateUp! universe – and I promise there is much more good to come.”
An acclaimed hit on Steam, PlateUp! is now just a week away from launching on consoles, with all forms of culinary mayhem coming to PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch on Feb. 15. It will see a new wave of players – spatulas at the ready – managing their own restaurants, while also offering new options for couch co-op and online play.
