Oppo announces Find N2 Flip in Europe, the first serious competitor to the Galaxy Z Flip4

As expected for months now, since Oppo announced the Find N2 series in China, one of the company’s foldable models is coming to Europe. That’s just the Oppo Find N2 Flip, the “clamshell” model of the range, which will compete directly with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip4. Of course, being a newer model, it has a few advantages over the competition.

Find N2 Flip has a bigger screen on the outside

While Samsung “recycled” the Galaxy Z Flip3 design for the Flip4, Oppo is only in its first generation of clamshell phones, so it integrated a larger exterior screen from the start. It offers a 3.26″ diagonal and is positioned vertically, unlike other clamshell models on the market, which have chosen the landscape format. Widgets for the main applications on the large screen can be displayed on this screen, providing quick access to certain functions.

The screen on the inside is instead comparable to the competition: 6.8″ diagonal, and a slightly wider format, which might be preferred by some users. The screen has a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels and offers variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz, with brightness of 1,600 nits. The outdoor screen reaches a maximum of 900 nits.

Unlike Samsung, which uses Qualcomm chipsets, Oppo has chosen a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset made specifically for this type of device. It is better optimized in terms of power consumption and provides performance close to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, being based on a 4nm manufacturing process. The Oppo Find N2 Flip comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.

The battery is bigger and charges faster

On the camera front, we get two cameras on the back, just like on the Z Flip4. The primary camera is based on a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 sensor, and the secondary camera is 8 megapixels. So, chances are that Samsung’s model offers better performance in this department. Inside there’s also a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

The hinge is an important element for foldable phones, and the one on the N2 Flip, called “Flexion”, allows positioning at any angle between 45 and 110 degrees. It is made with a simpler design with fewer components, which will ensure better durability and smaller size. Oppo promises 100 daily openings for 10 years for this item.

Finally, the Oppo Find N2 Flip comes with a large battery for a device of its kind. It uses two cells that have a total capacity of 4,300 mAh, with fast charging at 44W with the in-the-box charger.

The price of the Find N2 Flip is unexpectedly good

Most interesting, however, is the price. Oppo seems to have made the right compromises to achieve a not-very-high price for a foldable phone of this kind. Announced in the UK, the phone will cost £849 and will also come with a pair of Enco X2 earphones on pre-order.

Market launch is scheduled for March 1. In Euro, the price is equivalent to 956 euros, so we can expect a price in lei between 4,500 and 5,000, significantly cheaper than the competition’s starting price of 5,349 lei. Meanwhile, Samsung’s models are now around 3,649 lei, so we’re finally starting to see competition in this area.
