Will smartphone charging cables soon be a thing of the past? Released at CES 2025 Swippitt
at least a charging system that means cell phones no longer have to be plugged in for long periods of time.
The gadget based on the already familiar pattern with special cell phone cases also costs a lot.
More than just a fancy charging station
The Swippitt charging system consists of four components: A charging station, special smartphone cases, external batteries and the Swippitt app.
- At first glance, the charging station looks like a stylish smartphone charging station – in the shape of a toaster. In fact, it doesn’t primarily charge your smartphone, but rather external batteries.
- If you place your cell phone in the station, it replaces a special external battery with a charged one. This only takes two seconds.
- The batteries are integrated into the special smartphone cases with a charging port.
Mobile phone cases that charge smartphones have been around for a long time – such as Apple’s MagSafe for iPhones. However, you have to take the power bank out of the case yourself and charge it.
This happens automatically with Swippitt.

The external batteries have a capacity of 3,500 mAh. This allows you to extend the battery life of smartphones by 50 to 90 percent, depending on the model.
The batteries are designed to provide energy immediately after being inserted into the smartphone cases or to be available as a reserve.
Die Swippitt app detects the charging status of the smartphone and can activate the external battery. You can also set and monitor various charging functions. For example, the charging height can be limited to protect the internal battery.
An innovative product – for everyone?

Swippitt advertises in its promotional video a station for the whole family. At least 5 batteries fit into one station. However, if everyone in a household of four comes home at around the same time with almost empty batteries, things could get tight.
Then someone has to plug it into the socket or charge their device directly in the charging station. We do not yet know how long an external battery in the station needs to be fully charged.
Swippitt also advertises that all smartphone models are supported, provided there is a corresponding case. That is currently only for iPhones 14, 15 and 16 the case.
Newer generation Android devices will also be supported by the end of the year.
A hefty price and an annoying noise
Swippitt offers its station with 5 batteries for $450 to. The batteries should be replaced approximately every three to four years. A case costs $120. However, if you pre-order now, there is a 30 percent discount on all products.
If you compare the above advertising video with the demonstration video from YouTube, you will notice one thing in particular: In the hip trailer, a sound effect sounds when the station changes the battery.
That doesn’t sound so sexy in the live demo on YouTube: more like a stubborn ink printer just before it doesn’t print but rather shows an error.
In the end, the Swippitt is, above all, a mechanical system. This actually brings together innovative ideas – but whether charging cables will become history is questionable.
What do you think about that? Would you get the Swippitt? Or do you swear by a completely different system so that you always have a charged battery? Write it to us in the comments!
