Madrid to have a museum dedicated to video games by the end of the year

Madrid will have a permanent space dedicated to preserving, disseminating and exhibiting the past, present and future of video games. OXO Videogame Museum Madrid is the new museum that proposes to bring the capital to the forefront of the sector and become an international reference.

OXO Museo del Videojuego will open its doors in the last quarter of 2024 in a building located in the heart of Madrid, specifically in Plaza Callao. It is an Elizabethan mansion of the nineteenth century with five floors, a unique building with over a hundred years of history and more than 1,600 m2.

The palace is a unique artistic space that retains all its original splendor, with coffered ceilings, imposing frescoes, pilasters decorated in gold leaf and a dome that will become an exceptional setting for the exhibition proposal.

Contents and exhibitions

OXO Museo del Videojuego Madrid will open with a permanent exhibition dedicated to the 70 years of video game history, from its beginnings to the present day in a journey through the sector, through a selection of video games, outstanding pieces and all kinds of platforms such as arcade, computers or consoles.

In addition, OXO will feature temporary exhibitions of international character with the aim of disseminating, celebrating and analyzing the video game from multiple points of view.

Cultural Agenda and support for the creation of videogames

As an integral part of the museum, OXO will have a rich cultural agenda in which through meetings, presentations, courses, educational workshops and all kinds of events and actions, video games will be brought closer to visitors, students and industry professionals.

In addition, as it could not be otherwise, OXO Museo Videojuego Madrid aims to promote, make visible and support the creation of video games, with special attention to video games created in Spain and specifically in Madrid, becoming the best scenario to connect creators with the public.

OXO Museo Videojuego Madrid is a private initiative supported by the Spanish Association of Video Games (AEVI) and its initiative to spread the good use of video games. The Good Gamer and the Asociación Española de Empresas Productoras y Desarrolladoras de Videojuegos y Software de Entretenimiento (DEV).
