The King of England has officially honored the members of K-pop group Blackpink with MBEs, all as part of South Korea’s state visit to the country. The band was honored following King Charles’ recognition of their efforts to protect the environment.

The members of Blackpink, Jennie Kim, Jisoo Kim, Lisa Manobal and Rose Park were all honored with the award, with King Charles even going so far as to add that he hopes to one day see the band perform live.

King Charles stated: “I applaud Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rose, better known as Blackpink, for their role in bringing the message of environmental sustainability to a global audience as ambassadors for the British presidency of COP26, and later as advocates for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

“I can only admire how they can prioritize these vital issues, as well as being global superstars. Unfortunately, when I was in Seoul all those years ago, I’m not sure I developed much of what might be called the Gangnam style!”
