Huawei to unveil HarmonyOS 3.0 operating system very soon

Huawei launched HarmonyOS two years ago, but so far we haven’t seen it on smartphones outside of China. But we could also see the new operating system in Romania on smartwatches and tablets, and starting this summer, Huawei will offer HarmonyOS 3.0, according to an official announcement on social network Weibo. The company will officially unveil the new software, which will most likely be found on the next high-end smartphone it is preparing, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro.

HarmonyOS 3.0 to debut in the next few days

HarmonyOS 1.0 and 2.0 have been the foundation on which Huawei is building its new software ecosystem. While 1.0 was just an evolution of the EMUI interface, which we still find on the company’s phones in Europe, and 2.0 was based on creating an “ecosystem” OS that can create “super devices” by interconnecting multiple devices and accessories, it will be interesting to see what direction Huawei pushes version 3.0 in.

Concurrent with the launch of HarmonyOS 3.0 on July 27 in China, the company has also mentioned a Smart Office release for the same date outside of this region. Thus, we can assume that the new software release will come with some new productivity and multi-tasking capabilities for compatible devices. The most recent Smart Office launch took place in June and brought to market the MateBook D16, the big-screen laptop with powerful hardware. We’re also expecting a new MatePad tablet with the launch of HarmonyOS.

Of course, the announcement of HarmonyOS 3.0 won’t coincide with when the OS will be available. It’s likely that Huawei will offer it in beta for developers for now, and won’t release it to the general public until the fall. It’s unclear, however, whether in 2022, Huawei phones sold in Europe will finally get HarmonyOS 3.0, or will stick with the current custom version of Android, over which the classic EMUI interface is applied.â
