Huawei announces Watch GT 3 Pro, its new premium watch with titanium or ceramic case

Along with the new Mate Xs 2, its new foldable phone from the “flagship” range, Huawei also announced the Watch GT 3 Pro watches. These are three new variants, which use the same internal hardware, but which come with different housings: one “standard”, made of titanium, one made of ceramic material and one made in partnership with the Porsche Design studio. New capabilities include monitoring of diving activities, as well as the ability to perform a quick EKG analysis, like other smartwatches of recent times.

Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro watches don’t look very different from “standard” models

Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro was presented in two sizes. The large one, 46mm, uses a titanium case and has a 1.43 ”screen. It integrates a battery that should provide about 14 days of battery life in regular use, or about 8 days for those who do sports more often or will use the watch to listen to music or other such activities.

The 43mm model uses a ceramic case and has a 1.32 ”OLED screen. However, it promises a significantly lower autonomy: 7 standard days or 4 days with heavy use. The values are similar to those promised for the “standard” Watch GT 3 series. According to Huawei, software innovations include monitoring dives to depths of up to 30 meters, as well as monitoring golf courses. The clock includes over 300 golf courses.

Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro also includes NFC, as well as other advanced sensors for monitoring sports activities: pulse sensor, EKG, blood oxygen sensor, thermometer and motion sensors.

The main difference from today’s Watch GT 3 models seems to be the presence of premium materials. Titanium and ceramic housings are different from the steel ones used for regular models, while the glass is sapphire, much more resistant to scratches than the glass used on other smartwatches.

Prices start at 2,500 yuan (360 euros) for the 46mm titanium model, and 3,000 yuan (430 euros) for the ceramic version. The Porsche Design model, with a crown decorated with the logo of the design company, as well as with inscriptions on the display frame and a special metal bracelet, starts at 4,700 yuan, equivalent to 680 euros. This model is based on the large screen model. Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro watches hit the market on May 5 in China. Launch in other regions may come a little later.
