André Guilhoto will lead GIANTX in the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC)the leading esports championship in Europe. The Portuguese coach embarks on his third stage in the organization, after two previous periods in which he led the LoL team in Spanish competitions. Now, Guilhoto is returning to his home country to embark on an international adventure with GIANTX with a clear objective: to aspire to the League of Legends World Championship. Sign two years, for 2025 and 2026.
André Pereira Guilhoto (Portugal, 1994) returns to GIANTX as a substitute for Christophe ‘Kaas’ van Oudheusden. Also to the LEC. From 2018 to 2020 he was at the helm of several teams in the European Championship, including during the LCS era, before the foundation of the LEC as it is known today. Reached two finalsfirst with Schalke 04 and then with Origin. He made the jump to Europe after winning a Spanish league with GIANTX, then Giants Gaming.
After the LEC and a stint in North America (Immortals and Team Liquid), in 2023 he returned to Malaga to work on Giantswhich later that year became GIANTX after a merger with the British club Excel. He returns after directing throughout 2024 in Superliga, first in CASE Esports and then on Team Hereticswith which he is coming from being champion of Spain.
Guilhoto is also one of the most charismatic coaches on the scene, and a recognized figure in the community Spanish-speaking competitive League of Legends community. GIANTX has announced his return with a spot highlighting his return to the organization.
GIANTX relies on the Portuguese coach to improve its results in the LEC, after two eighth-place finishes in the winter and spring campaigns, and to reach the Season Finals in the summer. In the end, the dream was not realized qualification for the Worlds League of Legends Worlds. Going to the Worlds is the big challenge that the company has set for itself, now with Guilhoto as the leader of the technical staff for the LEC team.
Guilhoto will have a technical staff in Berlin, LEC’s headquarters, composed of. Nicolas Perez (France, 1998) and Emanuel ‘Emi’ Ursachi (Romania, 1995). Nico has been with GIANTX for one year, first as head coach of the Superliga team and then as assistant coach at LEC. Emi, who is in his second stint with the company, serves as strategic coach.
The LEC will return on January 18, 2025marking the start of the season for GIANTX. In the coming days, the members of the roster that Guilhoto will be in charge of in Berlin will be unveiled.
