GeoGuessr joins Esports World Cup Festival 2025



The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) and GeoGuessr have announced that GeoGuessr to join the tournament program of the Esports World Cup Festivala new series of competitive events to be held in parallel to the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC). The Esports World Cup and its festival will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 7 to August 24.

Within the EWC Festival, GeoGuessr will be the protagonist of a last chance qualifying tournament (Last Chance Wildcard Tournament) for the GeoGuessr 2025 World Championship. This event will take place during week 3 of the festival (July 21-27), feature a $20,000 prize pool and will award two places to the world grand final, which will be held in Copenhagen on August 29 and 30. The top 16 players in the GeoGuessr global rankings will be invited to compete for these last two spots on the international stage.

Known for transforming online exploration into a competitive experience, GeoGuessr is joining the EWC Festival as a global audience favorite. Launched in 2013, this guessing-based geography game gained huge momentum in 2020, following a similar trajectory to chess, which will also make its debut at EWC 2025. Since then, GeoGuessr has attracted millions of players through its web version and availability on Steam, connecting users through the exploration of countries, continents and cultures. Using the widely recognized Google Street View platform, GeoGuessr makes exploring the world available to everyone.
