Flip.ro vs Klap.ro: 3 popular refurbished smartphones offered by the two services compared

Services like Flip.ro and Klap.ro, which refurbish electronic devices and then sell them back with a warranty, are welcome. These businesses help combat environmental problems and save people money.

According to statistics from the International Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), up to 5.3 billion mobile phones will end up in landfill this year alone, compounding the huge problem of e-waste.

We compared three popular smartphone models – iPhone SE (2020), Samsung Galaxy S21 5G and Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G – available on the two platforms to see the asking prices, product condition and after-sales services offered.

First, we note that the two platforms offer similar extra-benefits: 12-month warranty, free delivery in 1-2 business days, possibility to open the parcel upon delivery, free return in 30 days and payment in installments. What’s more, both companies offer devices with a battery health rating of more than 85%.

Each service uses multiple reconditioning grades, which show the condition of the phone. At Flip.ro we have: like new (highest grade), excellent, very good and good (lowest grade). Klap.ro has the following system: A+ (highest grade), A, B and C (lowest grade).

Equated, the grades look like this: like new (Flip.ro) equals A+ (Klap.ro), excellent – A, very good – B and good – C.
