Tournament organizer FACEIT, which is part of the ESL FACEIT grouphas announced the OFFSEASON OPEN, a new off-season tournament focused on Rocket League.. The tournament will take place between October 20-22 and will have a prize of 10.000€. The tournament will be available to all European players interested and will be online. The game mode will be 3 vs 3, standard competitive.
The tournament will be divided into several segments. The open qualification phase will take place on October 20and from it the 16 best players will be selected who will advance to the next round. This will be followed by the closed qualification phasein which the 16 players and the top eight will have the opportunity to move on to the final phase, to be held on October 22.
The recently announced online tournament is part of a wider series of Rocket League tournaments. that take place in the off-season, between the major tournaments organized by Psyonixthe developer of the title. The target of the tournaments is keep the attention of spectators between major events.and help professional and amateur players compete in more relaxed and casual environments.
FACEIT notes that it has been running smaller online cups that reward points for some time, and now intends to “test the waters” with a larger event with a bigger prize pool.
This year’s calendar includes high-profile events such as. Collegiate Rocket League, Psyonix’s official eSports league for colleges in North America, as well as smaller online cups such as the OFFSEASON OPEN.
