Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake releases on Oct. 30 – That’s Gaming

In honor of Dragon Quest Day, which celebrates the very first DRAGON QUEST-game released in Japan on May 27, 1986, SQUARE ENIX has announced that DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake – in which the story is continued and completed from last year’s released and highly acclaimed DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake – will be released on Oct. 30, 2025. As of that day, the game will be available for Nintendo Switch 2^™, Nintendo Switch^™, PlayStation^®5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam^® and the Microsoft Store on Windows. Starting today, digital pre-orders of the game are also available.*

DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake combines complete remakes of DRAGON QUEST I and DRAGON QUEST II, which chronologically take place after DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, which appeared in November 2024. These two timeless adventures take players to the equally dramatic and satisfying conclusion of the “Erdrick trilogy” and are remade in the beloved HD-2D style, with never-before-seen story content and gameplay updates.

In DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake players go on an adventure with the descendants of Erdrick, the legendary hero from DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, whose legacy is passed down through generations. Players who want to know what happened after the events from the predecessor can continue the story in these games, while newcomers can experience the full compilation with the new digital-only DRAGON QUEST HD-2D Erdrick Trilogy Collection. This collector bundles DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake and DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake in one definitive set.

In addition to stunning HD-2D graphics, an improved combat system, numerous quality-of-life updates and expanded storylines, both remakes offer a wealth of new content. Details about this new content will be announced at a later date.

DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake will be released on Oct. 30 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on Windows. The digital-only DRAGON QUEST HD-2D Erdrick Trilogy Collection, a bundle of DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake and DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, will also be released on Oct. 30 for all platforms listed above.

As of today, the DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake Collector’s Edition also available for pre-orders. The Collector’s Edition will be released on Oct. 30 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and includes the following:
