Disney+: what to watch in July 2024 –

Let’s face it, this month on Disney+ is going to be a tough one. Aside from ongoing episodes of Star Wars: The Acolyte still debuting weekly, and a few other ongoing shows, the streamer doesn’t want to offer much at all to get excited about in July. Well… unless you’re a big fan of Sharkfest at least.

Sharkfest – July 1

We have included this as one entry, when in fact it is several new documentaries all under and within the Sharkfest category. Here, as every year, we can look forward to a series of new programs devoted to the ocean’s most fearsome predators, with shows focusing on creatures of all shapes and sizes of the species.

Whether exploring shark attacks, sharks living in cities, viral shark moments, the largest sharks swimming in our oceans and even a documentary presented by the new Captain America, Anthony Mackie, there are plenty of exciting shark shows to look forward to in July.

Land of Tanabata – July 4

From the creator of Parasyte, this show follows a university student as they use their unusual supernatural abilities to overcome a threat that could be catastrophic for the rest of the world.

Brats – July 5

This documentary examines the Brat Pack, a collection of young stars in the 1980s who starred in many beloved and cult-classic films, such as The Breakfast Club. In this film, director Andrew McCarthy meets back up with many of the other celebrities who were part of the Brat Pack to talk about being a member of this elusive group.

Match Point (2005) – July 5

Scarlett Johansson before you knew her as Black Widow. In 2005’s Match Point, the actress stars alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Emily Mortimer as an ex-girlfriend who reappears on the scene to disrupt the wedding of the characters played by the other two stars.

Mastermind: Thinking like a killer – July 11

This show looks at the woman who changed the way the FBI tracked and hunted serial killers. Here we learn more about Dr. Ann Burgess, the person who really kick-started the idea of criminal psychology and used studies and research on the psyche of victims to find their attacker.

Descendants: The Rise of Red – July 12

An original film that will undoubtedly fly under the radar for many. Descendants: The Rise of Red follows the Queen of Hearts’ daughter, Red, as she joins forces with Cinderella’s daughter, Chloe, to rebel against her mother in order to travel back in time and prevent the Queen of Hearts from taking a mean path.

Futurama (Season 12) – July 29

The 12th season of the animated series makes its debut this month, with the first of many episodes. The show will return by seeing Bender sell an NFT that represents the concept of his being, leaving him emotionally lost and having to return to his ancestral village in Mexico to rediscover himself.
