Founded in 2013, Cloud9 has enjoyed numerous successes in Counter-Strike eSports. The organization won the ELEAGUE Boston Major in 2018 and recently competed in BLAST Premier World Final 2023placing in the top 6 of the competition.
Following the decision of Evil Geniuses to sell its seat triggered a bidding process. In addition to dropping out of the Counter-Strike esports tournament circuit, the organization left the LCS along with Golden Guardians following Riot Games’ decision to reduce the league from ten to eight teams.

On the other hand, Cloud9’s status as a partner/member team in BLAST looks like it will be short term, considering that Valve, developer of Counter-Strike, will end the semi-franchised partner team model in 2025.
