Bungie announces new game Marathon & Nathan Fillion returns to Destiny 2 in The Final Shape – That’s Gaming

Bungie revealed at PlayStation Showcase a new game called Marathon, a sci-fi-extraction shooter. It is the studio’s first all-new project in more than a decade and is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC with full cross-save and cross-play. Bungie announced the game with a first CGI trailer, but did not give a release date yet. The trailer gave a glimpse of the characters (known in the game as “Runners”) and the bold visual style.

Marathon is a PvP-oriented extraction-shooter set on the mysterious planet Tau Ceti IV. Players take on the role of Runners, cybernetic mercenaries designed to survive the harsh environment of the planet and explore the lost colony of Tau Ceti. Players go solo or in a group of three in search of mysterious alien artifacts, valuable loot and new weapons and gear to add to their collection.

“Marathon is the beginning of an amazing journey for Bungie. A journey inspired by our studio’s storied history and at the same time facing the future with fervor.” says Marathon General Manager Scott Taylor. “We’re taking all the lessons we’ve learned from more than 30 years of creating amazing worlds and innovative PvP experiences and incorporating them into a game that looks, sounds and plays like something Bungie has never made before.”

First ViDoc Marathon
After the reveal, viewers collaborated to analyze and share clues, uncovering a network of lore-inspired secrets. Because of this discovery, Bungie published the first ViDoc of Marathon titled “Somewhere in the Heavens. In addition to the ViDoc, there are more secrets to discover.
