British bank launches educational module to prevent kids from overspending on in-game purchases -.

British bank TSB has launched a new module aimed at educating children and adults about how much money they may be spending on video games. In the age of loot boxes, battle passes, subscriptions and more, it can be pretty easy to just let money fly out of your account at a high rate.

According to TSB research, British gamers spend an average of £540 on in-game purchases. The study also found that more than half of those who have spent money in-game have had to cut back on their daily spending after overspending on the game.

TSB is working with Andy Robertson, freelance game journalist and author, to provide tips for gamers who want to spend less and ensure their children are not tempted by in-game purchases.

Tips include setting spending limits on consoles, children’s accounts, picking games that don’t have microtransactions, and just generally being open with a child about how they are gaming and whether they are interested in things like loot boxes and battle passes.
