Best board games of 2024 –

While you can play a board game with your friends, more and more party video games are finding their way onto our screens. Whether you gather people IRL or go online, we have a list of some of our favorites from the past year.

5. The Jackbox naughty package

If you’re not planning a family-friendly party night, The Jackbox Naughty Pack has just what you need. It is an NSFW version of a regular Party Pack, although it only comes with three games. However, those three do add a dirty taste to an already winning formula. Not the best Party Pack out there, but it certainly has its own unique, mischievous charm.

4. Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition

Perhaps a party game for the more competitive gamer, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is one to really decide who is the most elite gamer among you and your friends. Giving access to numerous classic games and challenges therein, you can put your skills to the test in speedrunning challenges, playing against yourself and other players to get the best score. Maybe it won’t result in the most relaxing game night, but it will be a fun one.

3. Boomerang Fu – Deluxe Edition

Okay, this is largely cheating because it’s not a new game, but it’s a great game considering a new version this year. Boomerang Fu came out in 2020, but in this new version you get the game and all its available DLC, including new maps, characters and more. The game is delightfully simple; all you have to do is run across a small map, pick up power-ups and throw boomerangs to cut your cute friends in half. It’s simple but easily addictive, and great for gamers of any skill level.

2. Just Dance 2025 edition

Like FIFA or Call of Duty, we get a Just Dance every year, and like those games, not much is done to improve on the original formula. But Just Dance comes with new songs, new dances and more to enjoy with friends, and remains an absolute party classic. It also actually offers a workout as you go on for hours, and can be a great way to warm yourself up in these winter months while perfecting your favorite dances.

1. Super Mario Party Jamboree

There would never be anything else at the top of this list, right? Party is literally in the name, and the latest Super Mario Party is perhaps the best yet. If you’re not familiar, it works like a board game, with Mario and other characters rolling dice in hopes of collecting coins and stars across the map. Once a turn is taken, however, there is also a mini-game to play, which is often the best part of any Mario Party game. With numerous other game modes added in addition to the traditional mode, Super Mario Party Jamboree is easily the ultimate party game of 2024.
