Barbenheimer leads Golden Globe nominations – Barbie

Awards season is almost upon us, and to kick things off we have the nominations for the Golden Globe 2024 awards. It seems that while the Barbenheimer craze may be a few months behind us, the staying power of that event has proven itself in these nominees lists.

Barbie has received a total of 9 Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture – musical or comedy, Best Director, Best Actress – musical or comedy, Best Male Supporting Actress and more. Oppenheimer trails just behind with 8 nominations, in similar categories, but for the drama portion of the awards.

Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon are among the other top contenders, with seven nominations each. The ceremony will take place on Jan. 7, 2024. Also in the TV space, The Last of Us is nominated for 3 awards.

And, to stay on the theme of adapting video games, Jack Black got a nod for his song Peaches, which is up for Best Original Song.
