OnlyFans stars from Russia, left unpaid and with blocked accounts

In a measure described as temporary, OnlyFans has suspended both accounts and payments due to content creators in Russia, explaining that international sanctions make it impossible to carry out operations. Returning to the initial decision shortly, OnlyFans announced the restoration of blocked accounts, but with “limited functionality”, the normal operations will be available “as long as we have the means to pay to support them”.

Until now, OnlyFans has been one of the few Western platforms that has kept all its services open to users and collaborators in Russia. However, in the case of a premium content service, the lack of a payment method is tantamount to de facto blocking the business.

“OnlyFans is primarily a content-oriented business. In recent months, we have explored several options to continue offering our services to creators affected by the war between Russia and Ukraine. However, due to a further tightening of payment restrictions to and from Russia, OnlyFans can no longer properly serve our community of Russian creators. We are therefore taking steps to temporarily suspend the accounts for which payments are received from Russia. We asked the creators affected by these measures to contact the address [email protected]which can help solve any questions regarding their accounts “, it is shown in an official communiqué.

For now, it is unclear whether OnlyFans users can still access their accounts in Russia, but without a way to make or receive payments, the possibilities to use the platform are limited anyway.

Regardless of the specifics of the content offered, the creators in Russia were left with virtually no options to ensure income from this activity, the list of platforms that suspended payments to this country continuing with Twitch, YouTube, Etsy, Fiverr, Instagram and Facebook, along with any other platforms which depend on Western payrolls for remuneration.
