Titan Quest II throws a hefty update into Early Access today, and it immediately changes quite a bit how you build your character. The game introduces Relics and Charms, a new Forge-Mastery, built-in multiplayer and German localization. French and Chinese translations are already in the works.
The biggest innovation is in the new socket system. Some forty Charms and Relics have been added that you can embed in weapons, armor, rings and amulets. Charms are relatively easy to find and connect logically to enemies you defeat. Three fragments make up a full Charm with an extra bonus on top. Relics work the same way but are much rarer and give much stronger effects. A complete copy of Essence of Zeus’ Thunderbolt Not only increases your attack speed, cast speed and lightning damage, but can even take out common enemies in one fell swoop.
In addition, the update introduces a new Mastery: Forge. This one is inspired by Hephaistos and is all about forging, engineering and handy constructions. You can strengthen weapons and armor as you fight, build on damage reflection or transform the battlefield with mechanical traps, turrets and other devices. Forge combines with other Masteries, creating new hybrid builds such as Storm-traps or Earth-powered constructs.
Multiplayer is now simply part of the main client, allowing you to trek through mythological Greece with friends right away. The update further brings the first full localization: German is now fully playable, with French and Chinese on the way.
So Titan Quest II continues to build solidly in Early Access, and this update takes a big step toward a more complete experience.
