After a successful open beta, GFA Games has confirmed that their MMO shooter PIONER at December 16 will appear in Early Access on Steam. The announcement is accompanied by a new trailer, in which the brutal combat, bizarre mutants and terrifying atmosphere are once again given the spotlight.
Two editions available
Two versions will appear with the Early Access release:
Standard Edition
Contains the full game.
Deluxe Edition
For players who want to start heavy duty, including:
- Renegade armor & gear skin
- Unique AR weapon skin for all ARs

What was in the open beta?
The open beta earlier this month already showed how ambitious PIONER is. Players were given access to:
- Five Acts of the story campaign
- Manufacture Raid
- Crash Site training raid
- PvP modes Deathmatch and Carnage Tournament
Gameplay: slow, tactical and menacing
An earlier gameplay trailer (March) gave a good idea of what PIONER wants to be:
a mix of STALKER, Escape from Tarkov and survival-horror, in a post-apocalyptic Soviet setting.
You explore dilapidated buildings for resources, get involved in firefights with bandits and PMCs, and must survive among life forms such as:
- Floating, airborne jellyfish
- A giant flying leviathan
- Heavily armed human factions
MMO structure with raids, PvP zones and clans
PIONER is a full-fledged MMO, meaning:
- Tackling missions together for bigger rewards
- PvP areas where anything and everything can knock you out
- A complete clan system for community building
- Social tools to share resources, comms and activities
Shadowlands: the Extraction mode
One of the core modes is Shadowlands, a high-stakes extraction experience full of:
- Dangerous anomalies
- Rare loot
- Other players making your life miserable
- Permanent progression based on what you manage to extract
In-depth crafting and RPG progression
GFA Games highlights the extensive crafting and progression system. You can craft weapons and gear with:
- Artifacts
- Scavenged materials
- Anomaly energy
In addition, the game contains active and passive skills that make your character progressively stronger.
