GIANTX kicks off the Women’s World Cup

The esports organization GIANTX has started in Seoul (South Korea) its journey in the Valorant Game Changers ChampionshipValorant’s women’s World Championship. The quintet of players competing in Game Changers, the international shooter circuit of the Riot Gameshas made its debut in one of the biggest events of the year in the e-sports calendar. And the debut almost ended in an upset against the reigning world runners-up.

Yağmur Gündüz ‘Smurfette‘, Neslişah Demir ‘Ness‘, Maria Perez ‘Toki‘, Nur Çakır ‘Eva‘ and Sara Ahmed ‘Sarahled by the Spanish coach Antonio Lozano ‘Aska’, represent GIANTX in this World Cup, which in 2022 won G2 Gozenin 2023 and 2024 Shopify Rebellion. The giants were already in the last edition of the Championship and repeat presence. The men’s team was also at the World Championship in September, held in Paris. The GIANTX teams in Riot Games’ shooter are among the most prominent in the EMEA region. In fact, GIANTX is one of only two organizations esports organizations on the planet with participation in the men’s and women’s World Cups.

The debut against the Brazilians of MIBRthe current world runner-up, was exciting. Not the dream, since it was not won, but the quintet of players of GIANTX took the first map with authority (13-8) and almost knocked out the favorites in the second in a comeback that did not happen (13-11). In Split, the definitive map, MIBR made their strength count to take the win.

GIANTX played on Sunday with the aim of staying alive in the competition, but no luck. Their opponent would come out of the clash between Team Liquid and KRÜ. The best Valorant women’s teams of today are gathered in Seoul. G2 Gozen, Karmine Corp and GIANTX represent the EMEA region; Shopify Rebellion, KRÜ Blaze, Team Liquid and MIBR. to Americas; Xipto GC and Ninetails to Pacific; and Nova Esports to China.

GIANTX players have qualified. to the Championship for the second consecutive year after establishing themselves as one of the most reliable sides in the competition spanning Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Since joining Game Changers in 2024, they have never finished lower than the podium, with three third-place finishes and three second-place finishes. The victory that crowns GIANTX as EMEA dominator is still to come.

The format of the Championship is double elimination. This means that those who fall have a second chance on the lower side of the bracket. Matches are played over three maps, except for the finals, which are played over five maps.

Riot Games launched the Game Changers circuit in 2021 with the goal of “creating new opportunities and empower women’s exposure and other marginalized genders” in esports. This program has gained prestige and professionalization, and is currently composed of the most relevant organizations and female Valorant players at an international level. GIANTX already had experience in Game Changers, as it has been represented in previous editions and has traditionally bet on the inclusion of women with the creation of teams and tournaments. Once again, it is at the Valorant World Cup.

In addition to being present in Game Changers, GIANTX also competes in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT)which, together with the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) and the aforementioned circuit Game Changers all stand in the main international esports competitions. GIANTX is also represented in the League of Legends Super Leaguethe main professional video game league in Spain.

2025 has been a remarkable year for GIANTX: top 7-8 in the world and EMEA finalist of the Valorant men’s team; top 5 recurrent in Europe in LEC; two-time champions of Spain in League of Legends; and two second places and a thirdand the presence in the World Cup of the Valorant women’s team of GIANTX.
