Already well-funded, the protocol restaking Ethereum EigenLayer has received a investment from 100 million dollars from the well-known American VC Andreessen Horowitz.
EigenLayer just raised another $100 million from Andreessen Horowitz aka a16z, reported Bloomberg on Thursday.
The startup is developing a platform on Ethereum that allows validators to “re-stake” their ETH (but also stETH, rETH, cbETH or even LsETH) to secure protocols other than Ethereum and generate additional rewards.
EigenLayer had already closed a $50 million funding round led by Blockchain Capital in March 2023. The round also included participation from Polychain and Coinbase Ventures.
According to Defillamathe TVL of the EigenLayer protocol, which made its debut last summer, now exceeds $7 billion.
