Developer MegaPixel Studio has announced a major free update for Front Mission 1st: Remake. The update, scheduled for release in 2024, will bring with it a host of new content, including single-player scenarios and a new local multiplayer hot-seat mode.
The update, titled Mercenaries, also brings with it a new set of playable mercenaries, as well as a new commander character that players can choose. The new mercenaries are described by the studio as intended to introduce players to the new content.
The upcoming hot-seat mode will allow players to participate in multiplayer skirmishes on a single device. The mode essentially has players taking turns deciding their moves, and will feature new skirmish maps.
Front Mission 1st: Remake was originally released in November 2022 on the Nintendo Switch. The game has since been released on more platforms, coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC in June.
As a remake of the classic Front Mission, Front Mission 1st: Remake brings with it a host of quality-of-life improvements, including the ability to choose between Modern and Classic modes.
