While Gamescom Opening Night Live drew most of the attention, there are plenty of great titles on display on the show floor. One of them is Saber Interactive’s highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, with about 14 minutes of new gameplay presented by IGN. Check it out below.
It begins on the battlefield with the Space Marines fighting Tyranids as they await an aerial bombardment. This offers a close-up look at the combat, with options to parry and even dodge an enemy attack to switch to a sidearm shot. Although these are work-in-progress images, the graphical quality is several steps higher than that of its predecessor.
The action moves to the Kadaku Swamp two hours later, with the classic chainsword in action (which you can switch at the beginning). Even with multiple enemies, your AI allies offer powerful support, but co-op is also supported.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be released in winter 2023 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
