Honor has announced a new model in the Honor 80 range with high-end hardware. The Honor 80 GT aims to fill the space between the standard 80 and 80 Pro models, offering high specs for those who want a high-end phone at a more affordable price. The phone will be launched in China first, but we expect to see it on the international market in the next few months.

Honor 80 GT comes with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and 54-megapixel Sony sensor

The Honor 80 GT has a slightly smaller screen than the Pro variant, featuring a 6.67″ OLED display with Full HD+ resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and high brightness of up to 1,400 nits. Inside, it houses a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, with 12 or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Honor won’t be producing variants with less or more storage for China, but might do so for Europe.

On the camera front, the Honor 80 GT uses an unusual main sensor: a 54-megapixel Sony IMX800, which uses an f/1.9 aperture lens. The ultra-wide camera, however, is a budget camera with an 8-megapixel sensor, and the last camera is a 2-megapixel macro camera. The front camera uses a 16-megapixel sensor.

The phone lines up with mid-high-end phones in terms of battery and charging, with a 4,800 mAh battery, 66W charger included in the box, and an advanced cooling system that gives it the “GT” name. It’s made with a 4,386mm2 vapour chamber and a 74mm graphene sheet.

The phone will come in black, blue and white colour variants in two configurations. In China, the phone starts at 3,299 yuan, or €445, in the 12GB variant and 3,599 yuan, or €485, in the 16GB RAM variant.
