200 dangerous apps discovered in Google Play and App Store. If you have one installed, you should definitely delete it

Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) along with the National Cyber Security Agency have published a list of more than 200 mobile apps that are available on both Android and iOS that may be malicious. These were found to be making unauthorised money transfers from users’ accounts, stealing personal information or allowing hackers to connect to and take control of devices.

Many of these apps hide behind common utilities for mobile users, such as PDF viewer apps, messaging apps, and password management apps, but also many camera apps, translation apps, or apps that help personalize phones.

The list of apps was published on the DES Facebook page last week, but no links to the dangerous apps were provided. The names are so generic that there could be more apps with that name on the App Store or Google Play. If you have any of the apps listed below installed, it would be a good idea to delete them and do a security “review” on your personal accounts, making sure they are protected with two-step authentication, passwords are secure, and that no unauthorized transactions have been made from your bank accounts.
