Offense, Umpire Dooms Royals as They Drop Game Two, 2-1

Kansas City Royals at Baltimore Orioles May 24, 2011

I‘m going to keep it short and sweet tonight. Poor Danny Duffy.

Danny Duffy made another fabulous start tonight, but it was soiled by the offense yet again. Duffy gave us six innings of quality work as he only gave up one earned run. It was an errant throw by Duffy that gave the Tigers their second run.

Nine men left on base tonight. Nine. That’s absolutely pathetic. That’s just more wasted opportunities.

What really irked me was not the offense. It was the total miscall by home plate umpire, Chad Fairchild that deemed interference on Lorenzo Cain. There was absolutely no contact made on part of Lorenzo Cain’s part, and he was in no way over the plate.

The Royals now sit 6.5 games back of the AL Central lead heading into the All Star Break.

I don’t really know what to say tonight. I’m mad. Ryan is mad. Everyone is mad.
